High-priced watches are usually mechanical masterpieces crafted with elaborate handwork. Behind the dial, a precise interplay of the finest gears and springs works to ensure accurate timekeeping. However, technically sophisticated smartwatches can also come with a correspondingly high price tag.
Since inner values also deserve a fitting exterior, many luxury manufacturers rely on noble materials. Ceramic, gold, or platinum refined with diamonds transform a functional watch into an exclusive piece of jewelry.
A Rolex is far more than just a precisely manufactured watch – it is considered a status symbol. Many are willing to dig significantly deeper into their pockets for this prestige.
Among the world's most expensive watches is the Vacheron Constantin Tour De L’ile – a mechanical masterpiece, of which there are only seven examples. It consists of over 800 individual parts and was sold in 2005 for its 250th company anniversary for around 1.5 million US dollars. Also impressive is the Hublot Big Bang 5 Million: Set with over 1,200 diamonds and a white gold case, it lives up to its name.

Chains tangled, bracelet missing, ring damaged - how best to protect jewelry and watches during storage?
To prevent silver jewelry from tarnishing, you can place a piece of chalk in the jewelry box or store the pieces in small velvet pouches. For jewelry with stones, make sure it doesn't come into contact with other rings, necklaces, or similar items to avoid scratches. Also, avoid using cotton wool as padding – this material can actually accelerate the tarnishing process for gold jewelry.
Especially long chains tend to get tangled when stored together. It's best to hang them individually – for example, on a picture frame, a hook, or even just a nail.
